Indiana Toy and Comic Expo Returns to Indianapolis, July 20

Second Year Brings New Venue and Expanded Show Floor

INDIANAPOLIS(June 9, 2014) – It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the second annual Indiana Toy and Comic Book Expo, and it’s coming to the Wyndham West Hotel, Sunday, July 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This family-friendly, fan-organized celebration of toys, comic books, and geek culture returns to Indianapolis for its second year and includes some big changes. This year’s show floor has expanded to over 12,000 square feet and features 70 new and vintage toy sellers, comic book dealers, and artists from throughout the Midwest.

Attendees may also participate in several hands-on activities during the event, including the ITCE Costume Contest, Comic Book Kids Coloring Area, and on-site photo opportunities. Costume contest prizes will be awarded in both Adult and Children’s divisions and will be judged by local cosplayers, Kayce Super and Michael “Knightmage” Wilson.

ITCE founder Billy Cooper pulled together a small group of friends to organize last year’s show, in part, as a tribute to his father, who died in 2012 and fostered Cooper’s early interest in comic books and collectibles.

“My father really encouraged my interest in comics at an early age as a way to help me learn to read,” said Cooper. “When we started planning the Indiana Toy and Comic Expo, it was really important to our team that we make the event a fun and affordable way for families on a budget to have a convention-style experience without a cumbersome price tag or a long drive to out-of-state venues.”

Admission to the one-day show is $5 for adults and children 12 and older. Children under 12 receive free admission with a paid adult ticket. U.S. military and veterans also will receive free admission with a valid military ID. Tickets can be purchased on-site the day of the show at the ITCE Registration Desk.

“We expect a big boost in attendance at this year’s show and are encouraged by the number of comics and collectibles events that have started to pop up throughout the state this year,” said Cooper. “It’s great to see other organizations realize what we discovered with our 2013 show: There’s a thriving and dedicated fan base of collectors right here in Indiana, who are excited about toys and comics and have wanted this type of event for a long time.

“We’re thrilled that the Indiana Toy and Comic Expo can continue to fill that need with a unique, interactive event designed especially for local collectors and fans by local collectors and fans.”
